Great Northern Highway, Western Australia.

Description

This is a point of interest. No camping or overnight parking allowed. The desert rose was planted by the father of Lisa Munro, who died when her family's car rolled north of the Willare Bridge on the Great Northern highway in 2003. The flowering evergreen was planted beside a white cross with a religious inscription and is watered via a gravity-fed drip from a drum that is nestled in a nearby tree. A wire fence surrounds the plant to protect it from cattle wandering from the nearby Yeeda Cattle Station. It is hoped travellers and the local community will keep the drum topped up with water.
