Description

This campground is in a tall Bloodwood forest on the western shore of Wingan Inlet in a tranquil bush setting. The campground is 36kms from the Princes Highway turn-off along the unsealed West Wingan Road. Access to the beach is either by boat through the inlet or via the Fly Cove Walking Track which commences in the campground. Strong currents can occur around the inlet mouth and along the ocean beach. Motorised boats can be used on the inlet but limits of 20 horse power motors and speeds of 8 km/hr (5 knots) apply over the entire inlet. There is no mobile phone reception at the campground. Advance bookings and payment are required year round. Bookings for the peak summer period opens on 1 August each year at 12 noon local time. Bookings for the Labour Day weekend (3-night minimum stay) and for Easter (4-night minimum stay) open on 2 February each year. There are 23 unpowered sites available, including a designated overnight hiker site for walkers undertaking the Wilderness Coast Walk. All campsites are unpowered sites. The campsite is suitable for tents, campervans and camper-trailers. Non-flush toilets, picnic tables and shared fireplaces are provided. The closest body of water is Wingan Inlet. The coast can be accessed via the Fly Cove Walking Track or by boat to the mouth of the Inlet. Campfires are only allowed in designated fireplaces - supply your own wood. Pets are not permitted.
