Description

Willis camping area in the Alpine National Park, is the last stop on Barry Way before it crosses the state border into NSW, and offers a scenic lunch spot with tables and fire rings. Camping is permitted and is free. Check the weather before you set out as the road to Willis can become boggy when it rains. The road is suitable for 2WD however, 4WD is required in wet weather. The road is narrow and windy, towing campers trailers or caravans is NOT recommended. Facilities include non-flush toilets, picnic tables and Fire rings with wood barbecues (bring your own firewood, it may not be collected from the park). You'll need to bring your own drinking and cooking water. We encourage you to bring gas or fuel stoves, especially in summer during the fire season. Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace. There is limited mobile reception in this park. Pets are not permitted. Kangaroos, wallabies and emus are likely to be seen during the day here, and you might even spot a platypus in the river, so dont forget the camera. Wombats are more likely to be out at night. NSW national parks are no smoking areas.
