Description

Green Lake is a small and very attractive lake in the middle of a wheat-belt area with sandy beaches, powered camping sites, toilets, showers and lots of picnic/barbecue areas, bush walks, gum trees and shade. It is located 10km from Sea Lake along the road to Birchip and has powered sites and facilities for individuals or groups to meet or stay. Sites are suitable for all types of camping The lake is almost full of water again after almost 10 years of being dry. The committee hope to welcome back water skiing this summer( 2019) after extensive lake bed repairs and boat ramp upgrades. Bushwalking can be enjoyed around the outskirts of the lake bed and in an adjacent reserve of mallee and pine-buloke woodland. Pets are permitted. Leave your camping fees in the mail box at the entrance if you do not see the caretaker. Green Lake was a natural shallow depression pre European settlement and ephemeral water body. The Lake and Reserve are now used for recreation purposes and is Crown Land under the jurisdiction of the Victorian State Government, Department of Sustainability and Environment. The Department appoints a Green Lake Regional Park Committee of Management (COM) who regulates the annual and casual camping fees, aquatic activities and has input into the construction of infrastructure and facilities. The Buloke Shire Council liaises with the COM and auspices the development of facilities and assists with risk management.
