Description

The Derby Tunnel is part of the Derby mountain bike trails so look out for riders using the tracks as they have right away. Note that the MTB trails are one way so this is a circuit walk. Less than 2km. The tunnel is around 200m long and as low as 2m in some places, and used to be an old tin mine. It is a good idea to take a torch even though there is lighting in the tunnel. From the end of the car park follow the slightly wider path down, keep to the left paths and you will eventually see blue posts with the Derby Tunnel icon. Follow these to the mouth of the tunnel. A sensor will activate the tunnel lights. On exiting the tunnel follow the bike path and it will eventually lead you near the gravel road that you drove on to get to the carpark and you can walk back to your vehicle.
