Description

Free camping area at Trout Creek in the Upper Scamander Reserve. Suitable for tent camping, camper trailers, small caravans and larger offroad caravans. The access road is unsealed, narrow, windy, steep in sections and rough. It may not be suitable for big rigs and large low clearance caravans or motorhomes. There are pit toilets and some scattered picnic tables. Sites are available on the Scamander River or in a grassed area near the toilets. Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace. Pets are permitted. Fires are permitted except during fire ban times, mainly during the summers months, and do not leave fires unattended. Take Upper Scamander Rd (across from Winifred Curtis Reserve) Follow for 7KM until you reach the water station there's a bridge on the right (Eastern Creek road) This is where it gets rougher Log trucks use this road but may often exit via Beaumaris handy to communicate via UHF and listen out despite this Follow Eastern Creek for 2.5km do not take any turns as this area has old mine shafts and rough 4wd tracks (pyramid hill is a current mine lease) Also washed out bridges There is a (Right) turnoff not far after two visible mine shafts (these are on your left after coming down the steep section) as nothing is signposted anymore. Follow this road to the campsite. Very deep potholes as of October 24. Wouldn't drive unless 4wd or campervan / bus
