The open-air museum contains remains of the mining operations, recreating the exciting atmosphere of the monster mine.
Entrance to the Burra Mine Site is included in the Burra Heritage Passport, available from the Burra Goyder Visitor Information Centre, 2 Market Square, Burra.
Copper ore was discovered at Burra in 1845 and by 1850 Burra was the largest metal mine in Australia, employing 1,000 men and boys.
