Pildappa Road, Wudinna District Council, South Australia.

Description

RE-OPENED! Pildappa Rock is an impressive granite outcrop well worth a visit. Located a convenient 15 kilometres off the National Highway One, access to the attraction is through the town of Minnipa. Visit the rock and you will find wave formations that rival the famous 'Wave Rock' in Western Australia. A shelter has been recently constructed and picnic, toilet and barbecue facilities are available to make the attraction a popular picnic spot among locals and visitors. A walking/drive trail circumnavigates the rock. Climb the rock and you will find superb views of the Gawler Ranges and the Blue Sturts Camping is permitted and a donation is requested. Dogs are permitted. This site will be closed to camping from Jan 26th 2024. Once works are completed, it will become a day use area only. However, another camping spot nearby is being planned by a local farmer, with easy access to the rock, toilets and walking paths. Was camping by donation, but donation box and visitors book have both disappeared. Seems to be free for now.
