Diving and snorkelling by permit only To protect the ponds and for your own safety: - Only snorkelers and suitably qualified divers are allowed to enter the water. - Divers and snorkelers must have a current permit issued by the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources. - Divers must be members of the Cave Divers Association of Australia and rated at Sinkhole category. - Divers must show proof of current membership before diving. Piccaninnie Ponds is a spectacular diving site because of its limestone caverns and crystal clear waters. Visibility can often exceed forty metres.
