Description

The Lyell Deer Sanctuary at Mount Samson, Queensland, is home to a small herd of rescued deer; a motley crew of red, rusa and fallow deer. This peaceful little hideaway in the beautiful Samford Valley, just thirty minutes north of Brisbane, is a popular destination for adults and children alike, offering education, serenity, and a truly unique experience. The Lyell Deer Sanctuary has been caring for deer for over thirty years, and attracts visitors from all over the world who want to get close to these magical creatures in a peaceful and beautiful setting. You can cuddle, sit with and hand-feed the deer. We are NOT a zoo or 'farm experience'; we are a small, family-run animal rescue service opening up our property to share the beauty and magic, and a taste of animal sanctuary life. Along with the deer, we also have goats, cow, chickens, guinea pigs, guinea fowl, peacocks and even a lizard. Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic. Complimentary tea and coffee-making facilities are available, and we sell cold drinks and iceblocks. The Lyell Deer Sanctuary is also available for group and coach bookings, school/vacation care excursions, weddings, birthday parties, workshops and venue hire. Contact us with any inquiries. HOURS: Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 4pm. No booking required, just pop in! You can spend a few minutes with us, or six hours! It's up to you. Weekdays and public holidays by appointment via text, email or go to the Contact page. For special events, closures and school holiday opening days and times, see What's On
