Dinosaur Stampede National Monument
Point of InterestDescription
Experience the only known dinosaur stampede on the planet! Guided tours take 45 minutes and start from 9.30am. Lark Quarry Conservation Park is open from 8.30am to 5pm.
Our guided tours include:
Over 3,300 dinosaur footprints scattered over the rock face
Animated recreations of the dinosaur stampede - as it may have happened 95 million years ago
A movie presentation in the Trackways Theatre
The history of Winton's trackway discoveries and conservation
The Spinifex Circuit is a 500m self-guided walking circuit around the Dinosaur Stampede National Monument. A lookout offers spectacular views of rolling Mitchell grass downs, framed by characteristic red earth Jump-Ups found at Lark Quarry Conservation Park. A recyclable flyer is also available at Dinosaur Stampede to interpret the local environment during the walk.
Unisex toilets, shaded picnic areas and parking are available at the entrance to Dinosaur Stampede National Monument. As Dinosaur Stampede National Monument is located at Lark Quarry Conservation Park, pets are prohibited from entering the Conservation Park - including the carpark. The carpark is routinely monitored by park rangers, who may fine any visitors with pets found in the Conservation Park.
No camping or overnight parking allowed.
