Bowen Historic Jetty
Point of InterestDescription
The jetty was built in 1866 to transfer freight from the supply ships. Prior to the jetty ships were anchored and bullock drays taken as close as possible at low tide. Goods were loaded onto smaller boats and then transferred to the drays.
Currently it is permitted to walk out to the end of the left hand branch. You must follow directions of crews restoring the deck. At times the pedestrian access may be temporarily be closed.
The right hand branch to the tug boats is off limits.
