Description

----- Take your budget further and get 5% off when you use the code WELWIKI5 on your booking through the link on WikiCamps. Enjoy your experience! ----- Discover the thriving art scene, stunning scenery, and fascinating history of the Redland Bay islands of Karragarra and Macleay on this full-day trip that includes a copper art workshop. After departing the mainland, the first stop is Karragarra Island. Take a walk along the scenic Esplanade to the island's beautiful community gardens to see and learn about great ideas on how to create an organic garden with edible flowers, a shed and a compost, a worm farm and more. Then, enjoy morning tea before a short walk to Robyn's pottery workshop and studio. After, the walk circles back to the jetty for the ferry transfer to Macleay Island. Once on Macleay Island, you will drive along the island following the heritage trail and visit local artists and craftspeople. Highlights include the historical relics of saltworks, a distillery and a lime kiln, and Tim O'Shea Wetlands. This is a protected area with a permanent freshwater hole and a fascinating historical past. You'll also visit the Tingira Boat Club, the Art Gallery with pottery shed, and the Bowls Club, followed by a short scenic walk along the picturesque road from Dalpura Beach to Pat's Park at the tip of the island. Then, drive along the eastern side of the island, enjoying the spectacular views, stop at Corroboree Park and the waterhole, and cross the causeway to Perulpa Island. Having worked up an appetite, dig into a healthy and delicious lunch platter at a local home with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The rest of the afternoon is then spent doing a copper art class. You will learn how to create a beautiful embossed copper leaf to take home with you as a memento of the day. After, return to the mainland via ferry.
