Description

The site where Memorial Park now stands was where the Cooyar Memorial Hall was erected in 1951. On the night of 12 February 1988, the hall was washed away by flood. Four houses and one shop were also destroyed. The lives of two locals were lost and many others were changed forever. The Rosalie Shire Council dedicated the land to become a Memorial Park. A memorial was erected in honour of Annie Patricia Monk (39) and Melvyn William Barron (41) who lost their lives in the floods.
