The Lake, Quilpie
Caravan ParkDescription
The lake itself is a beautiful natural expanse of water set amongst shady red gum and coolibah trees. Seasonally, thousands of glorious water lilies line the banks in the shallow water. This lush oasis is home to a vast array of birds and native animals, making it an ideal location to birdwatch and photograph some of Quilpie Shire's unique wildlife. Only a five minute drive from Quilpie, the Lake is an ideal spot for a scenic picnic, a refreshing swim, or to watch a magnificent sunset. Visiting this beautiful, natural lake teeming with native birds makes it difficult to believe this is outback Queensland.
Powered sites all have water and sullage points. Amenities are available on the east side of the lake and unpowered camping is available close to the water on the edge of the lake.
Please keep in mind that The Lake is on private property which is a working sheep, goat & cattle property. Please treat this beautiful area with respect and do not drive elsewhere on the property.
Open fires are permitted on our unpowered sites but only when the weather permits. If there is a fire ban, obviously no fires are allowed. Please be aware that, due to the surroundings, you must be able to contain your own grey water when camping on the unpowered sites close to the water.
The road in is suitable for caravans, 4WD & 2WD cars and camper trailers but only in good weather.
There is good telstra mobile phone service (depending on your carrier) and television reception here. EFTPOS available.
Dogs are welcome at this campsite but please be responsible! Dogs must be on a lead 100% of the time and are not to be taken near any stock, on the lawns or to the bar/camp kitchen area.
Please note the map directions on WikiCamps and google maps are incorrect. From Quilpie travel East on the Diamantina Developmental Rd towards Charleville for 4km. Our turn off is marked with a big orange caravan shaped sign saying The Lake & it's 1km in off the highway.
