Homestead Caravan Park
Caravan ParkDescription
The practice of boiling up the billy and cooking camp oven damper in the coals of fire, started on this exact same spot over 30 years ago, is ever popular with visitors to the Barcaldine Homestead Caravan and Tourist Park. The great Aussie tradition has always been a hit with guests, who reckon this park has the best damper in the west.
Every day during the season, guests are treated to this famous bush smoko, and most nights a country singer (see below) or entertainer as well.
The extended shop (the complex has a Caltex service station as well) is popular with park guests and townsfolk alike, the store has a whole wall of cold drinks. Slushies come in several flavours, cappuccinos are popular and you'll find a range of other products from phone recharges to dog food.
The Park itself is beautifully green with lovely mature plantings, there's plenty of space on the sites and you can see hundreds of birds and other wildlife out the back. If you're not towing your own caravan, you can book one of the budget cabins. A camp kitchen with TV and free barbecue is available.
