Speewah camping area offers three individual sites suitable for tents, camper trailers or campervans, plus a large communal tent area that can accommodate multiple groups. It provides a convenient base for exploring the various walking tracks of Barron Gorge National Park.
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site. This is an e-permit camping area-all camping must be booked in advance; self-registration is no longer available. Camping is only permitted in the camping area/camp site(s) you have booked.The camping area is an open grassy area fringed by rainforest trees, near the Speewah trailhead for the Barron Gorge National Park long-distance walking network.
It is located 5.2km along Stoney Creek Road from the Speewah turn-off on the Kennedy Highway and can be reached by conventional vehicles. It is accessible for camper trailers, campervans and small buses driven with care. It is not accessible for caravans.
Facilities include picnic tables, gas barbecues, flushing toilets and cold showers (toilets and showers are wheelchair accessible).
Open fires are allowed only in the fire pit in the communal tent area. Elsewhere, fuel stoves are recommended.
Generators and pets are not permitted. Mobile phone coverage is not available.
