No facilities are provided in the Oyala Thumotang National Park -campers must be self-sufficient in this remote area. It is recommended to travel with another vehicle and have suitable vehicle recovery equipment on hand. Take fuel, food, vehicle spare parts and plenty of drinking water; there is no fresh water available in the park.
Camping permits are required and must be booked in advance-self-registration is no longer available. Fees apply. Your booking number must be displayed at your camp site.
Old Archer Crossing camping area is on the bank of the Archer River at the site of the old crossing. There is good shade. The site is unpowered and suitable for tents and camper trailers. Maximum 3 cars and trailers (8 people). This camp site can be reached by four-wheel-drive vehicles and off-road camper trailers only.
Open fires are allowed (except when fire bans apply) in existing fireplaces only. Do not collect firewood from the park. Fuel stoves are recommended.
Generators that operate at a noise level less than 65dB(A) at 7m are permitted.
Pets are not permitted. Mobile phone coverage is not available.
