INTRODUCING
BOOKINGS ON WIKICAMPS
Ocean Lake Camp Ground
CampgroundDescription
Vehicle access permits must be purchased for every vehicle before entering K'gari. Camping permits for QPWS camping areas are required and must be purchased before setting up camp-fees apply. When making your booking, you will need to know the name for the camping zone or area you are booking. You must stipulate the place and dates you intend to camp. You cannot camp elsewhere during that period unless you amend your booking beforehand. Permits cannot be purchased from rangers on the island. As mobile phone reception on K'gari can be unreliable QPWS suggests purchasing your camping permit prior to arriving on the island from www.qld.gov.au/camping or visiting a permit issuing centre. The camping structures of all people registered under a booking must be in one location and not more than 3m apart.
The eastern beach has 9 beach camping zones offer camping behind the foredunes and close to the beach. Each camping zone ranges from 600m to 3.2km long, with many open camp sites on offer. Camping zones are spread along the eastern beach from Dilli Village north to Sandy Cape. Each zone contains 2-3 clearly signposted, designated camping areas set behind the foredunes. This campground is located in the Eastern beach camping zones Zone 8 (Waddy Point to Ngkala Rocks).
High clearance 4WD's are required for access. Drive on the defined foredune access tracks-not on the dunes or over beach vegetation. There are no facilities. Visitors are strongly encouraged to bring portable chemical toilets for use in beach camp zones.
The nearest portable toilet waste disposal facilities are located at southern entrance to Cornwells camping area, the Woralie Road eastern beach entrance, Dundubara camping area and the Orchid Beach beach entrance. The nearest QPWS waste transfer stations to dispose of rubbish are located south of Cornwells camping area, south of the Maheno camping area, north of Dundubara (Red Canyon), and near the Orchid Beach township. The nearest water taps are located outside the Eurong QPWS information centre (north of Eurong township) and at the Dundubara and Waddy Point camping areas. Bring your own water containers and treat water before drinking.
Open campfires are prohibited. Bring a suitable fuel stove for cooking. Generators are permitted from 9am to 9pm, sound rating must be less than 65 decibels (2.0Kva).
Pets are not permitted. Be dingo-safe! Read and heed all dingo messages.
