Description

Mt Barney Retreat is true wilderness escape - just two hours from Brisbane. On your door step - Mt Barney Retreat with its mountains, forest and creeks lends itself to some amazing camping experiences. We have 300ac (130ha) of mountains and forest available for camping, plus we offer an established camping ground with all the basic facilities you would expect in a wilderness retreat. A commitment to restrict the number of sites to a sustainable number means you, your family and friends can readily experience the quiet and peaceful surrounds of the forest and the mountains. We hope that by limiting the number of camping sites we are able to offer you a great incentive to camp here. We have developed camping sites to showcase this amazing place - adjacent to World Heritage Mt Barney National Park. For those who want a complete wilderness escape we also offer an even more remote location - hidden in the forest and ridges of the property and accessible by more experienced four wheel drivers - as the tracks are rougher and steeper. Please Note: Mt Barney Retreat is accessible by 4WD vehicle only - the road is rough but not beyond the capabilities of any careful driver. Mt Barney Wilderness Camping offers basic but comfortable bush facilities in keeping with our wilderness location. We have: A bush hall which can house up to 25 people; A large dining table that can seat 16; An inside wood burning stove heater; A large covered camp fire; A pizza oven; An outside wood fired BBQ; and An inside BBQ. We have three ablution blocks, two with hot showers; A fully functional kitchen with: Crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and kettles; Four hot water washing up sinks; Six gas rings; A small bar fridge and a microwave; and Two food storage cabinets.
