Description

Moonstone Hill is a general permission fossicking area. Fossicking is allowed with a permit and fossickers must comply with the special conditions of access. Camping is permitted for a maximum of 5 nights. Camping permits can only be obtained on line through Qld Parks website.Campsites must be within the bounds of the resources reserve and not encroach the surrounding Blackbraes National Park. There is a map just inside the gate showing the designated camp area however, it is evident campers have used any available flat area.The Reserve is 5km north of the Blackbraes turn-off, or about 16km north of the Chudleigh Park turn-off. Look for a simple wire gate in the fence and a track to the right leads to the designated camp area to the left a track leads to the hill and is a dead end. A sign showing the conditions that apply is erected on the reserve and boundary markers have been surveyed in. Campfires are permitted using own wood and must be properly contained. Remove all rubbish and leave no trace. Bring your own water supplies and not take water from the grazing operations on the adjacent national park. There are no signs that Dogs are not permitted although normal National Park rules may apply. It does appear however that this area on the eastern side of the main road whilst controlled by Qld Parks may be treated differently to the main park area west of the main road.
