Seasonal closure is in place at Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park (CYPAL). Seasonal rainfall makes roads impassable. The park reopens after the wet season when access is safe. During the closure ll access to the park is prohibited and on-the-spot fines apply. All camping in Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park (CYPAL) must be booked in advance. Campers must purchase an e-permit before arriving at the camping areas. Self-registration is not available and there is no mobile phone coverage on site (there is limited mobile phone coverage near the New Laura ranger base). To obtain an e-permit, you can: - book online - visit an over-the-counter camping permit booking office or self-service kiosk - phone 13 QGOV (13 74 68). Mobile phone charges may apply. Dingo Waterhole camping area is adjacent to a deep, permanent waterhole on the low (<1m high) western bank of the Normanby River. Large crocodiles are frequently seen here. It is loacted in the central part of the park on the western bank of the Normanby River, 9km east of Lakefield Road-by road, the turn-off is 24km north of New Laura ranger base and 9km south of Lakefield ranger base. The camping area can be reached by four-wheel-drive vehicle only and the access road crosses the Kennedy River. It is not accessible for caravans, campervans or buses. The road becomes impassable after rain. There is one unpowered site for a maximum three cars and trailers (eight people). The site is suitable for tent camping beside your car and camper trailers. There is partial shade. Open fires are allowed (except when fire bans apply) in fire rings only. Fuel stoves are recommended. Do not collect firewood in the park. Only generators operated at less than 65dB(A), when measured 7m from the generator, are permitted, and only between 8.00am and 7.00pm. Pets are not permitted.
