This small, level, low-key camping area is on the western side of the island, with views over the Pumicestone Passage towards the Glass House Mountains and Toorbul. Note that camp sites here may be closed for bookings at times, due to flooding on very high tides. The camping area can be reached by 4WD only. (The sandy roads are not suitable for 2WD vehicles). There are no launching or recovery facilities for boats.
There are 6 numbered, unpowered sites suitable for small campervans, caravans and camper trailers; sites are more suitable for tent camping beside your car. Sites accommodate a maximum of six people per site.
There are no toilets or other facilities here. Campers are encouraged to bring self-contained portable toilets to help reduce bush toileting. Water is not provided at Gallagher Point bring your own water.
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site. You must book your camp site before your visit. A vehicle access permit must be obtained before driving in the national park and recreation area.
Preferably bring a fuel stove. Fires are not permitted on the beach. Fires for cooking purposes are permitted in fire rings provided. Bring your own clean, milled firewood as it is illegal to collect firewood in the national park or recreation area.
Please camp within the open spaces provided-do not push into vegetated areas or clear new areas for camping. Remain at least 5m away from vegetation at all times.
Domestic animals are not permitted in the national park or recreation area. Generators are not permitted anywhere in the national park or recreation area.
