Fossickers Dream
CampgroundDescription
The property is located on the site of the First Kilkivan Township and was home to a gold rush in 1868 where a 73 oz nugget was discovered.
Gold is still found in and around the creek with fossicking permitted at $25 per person per day. Being private property all the QLD Fossicking Act rules and regulations are followed this includes having a current QLD fossicking license which must be supplied before fossicking is permitted. These rules include no machinery or pump operated sluices such as high banking sluices. Detectors are welcome and some great finds have been found with them including gold and coins from the 1860's.
There are many great shaded camping spots along the creek or a large open area of about 50 acres for larger groups. There is also a year round swimming hole fed by a solar bore on the property for anyone wanting to cool down.
Kids under 12 are free but if fossicking must be covered by a permit and are only $10 each per day.
