Description

Camping permits for QPWS&P camping areas are required and must be purchased before setting up campfees apply. Dundubara camping area is on K'gari (Fraser Island), 15km off the coast of Hervey Bay and about 300km north of Brisbane. The camping area is on the Eastern Beach scenic drive, 41.4km north of the Eurong township and 26.9km south of Waddy Point beachfront camping area. The Eastern Beach scenic drive is only accessible 2hrs either side of low tide. Dundubara camping area features a large, formal fenced camping area with a variety of sites to choose from and access to walks and other attractions. Tucked inland from the beach, your camp site will be sheltered from strong ocean winds and surrounded by a shady woodland. High clearance 4WD is required for access. Your high clearance 4WD must have low range functions. The site is suitable for tents, swags and off-road camper trailers. Facilities include; water taps (treat water before drinking), flushing toilets, coin-operated hot showers ($2), picnic tables, communal fire rings and washing-up facilities. Rubbish bins are at QPWS waste transfer station on the beach1km north of the Dundubara entrance track. A portable toilet waste disposal facility is located on the Dundubara entrance track. Open fires are permitted in QPWS&P-provided fire rings in the communal areas only . No fires are permitted at Dundubara when QPWS&P fire prohibition or local fire bans are imposed. Note: this camping area has a dingo deterrent fence and is recommended for families with children 14 years and under. Generators and pets are not permitted. Mobile phone coverage is available around the Dundubara office, a short walk from the camping area.
