Vehicle access permits must be purchased for every vehicle before entering K'gari. Camping permits for QPWS camping areas are required and must be purchased before setting up camp-fees apply. A camping permit booking number must be clearly displayed at your camp site.
Coolooloi Creek camping area is accessible by 4WD along the Hook Point inland road-not the beach. The camping area is ideal for the late traveller or those that need to wait for the low tide before traversing the eastern beach. This flat, undeveloped camping area has no facilities, is not fenced and is set among casuarina trees and eucalypt trees and is partially exposed to the cool ocean sea breeze.
3 defined camping sites with 12 campers at any one time. SItes are unpowered and suitabel for 'park and walk-in' tent camping and small camper trailers.
Facilities include boat ramp, and picnic facilities. Campers are required to bring and use a portable toilet. The nearest portable toilet waste disposal facility is located at the intersection of Hook Point inland road and the 11km beach access track. Nearest waste transfer stations on the eastern beach, north of Eurong. The nearest water taps are located at Eurong or Central Station.
Open fires are prohibited-fuel stoves only. Generators and pets are prohibited. Mobile phone coverage is generally not available.
