All camping in Kutini-Payamu (Iron Range) National Park (CYPAL) must be booked in advance. Campers must purchase an e-permit before arriving at the camping areas. Self-registration is not available and there is no mobile phone coverage on site (however there is limited mobile phone coverage on Chilli Beach). Cooks Hut camping area features a shady and sheltered area in the rainforest near the Claudie River-a great spot for birdwatching. There are six numbered and unpowered sites. amp sites are very popular during peak periods. Campers should plan their visit and obtain an e-permit well in advance. These sites are also used by commercial tour operators. The camping area can be reached by four-wheel-drive vehicles and off-road trailers only. There are no facilities. Roads and camp sites within the park are not suitable for caravans. Campers must be equipped for camping in a remote area. Total self-sufficiency in food, water, equipment for treating water, fuel and vehicle spare parts is essential. Minimise your use of fresh water. Generators are prohibited.
