Collins Weir, Walsh River
CampgroundDescription
Collins Weir is a mass concrete gravity weir with central ogee spillway, located on the Walsh River. Today the weir is part of the scheme that supplies water for sugar cane, bananas, mangos, avocados as well as general horticulture, tea-trees and coffee plantations.
The area is a popular informal swimming and camping area although no facilities are provided. Campers must be self-sufficient. Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace.
There are no toilet facilities at this site. If you do not have your own toilet, bury human waste at least 100m from tracks and water bodies. Bury toilet paper or bag and dispose of in a bin once you leave the site.
