Description
Hartley Street School was constructed in 1929 and was the first official school building in Alice Springs. In 1945 a new classroom was designed by architect Beni Burnett. The wooden floors and octagonal shape of the new addition was in stark contrast to the simple design of earlier construction. The unusual octagonal room is open to the public as a National Trust school museum from 10.30am-2.30pm Mon to Fri and 9am-12.30pm Saturday's.
