Description
Smith Point is located in Garig Gunak Barlu National Park at the very top of the Northern Territory (NT), accessed by an unsealed road (4WD only) travelling through Arnhem Land.
You need a permit to access Garig Gunak Barlu National Park. Book well in advance, especially during school holidays.
Do not swim as there are saltwater crocodiles and box jellyfish.
All year round access by sea only. Road access is during the Dry Season only. Roads are open usually from 1 May to 31 October, but check with the permits office before heading out. Caravans, motor bikes and ATVs are not permitted. Off road vans/trailers are permitted but at your own risk.
Fuel may be purchased at Jabiru during normal business hours. No fuel is available at Murgenella or in the Park. Visitors need to carry sufficient fuel for their return journey from Jabiru as well as fuel to cover recreational
activities within the Park.
Pets are not permitted.
Camping - is only permitted within the designated camping areas at Smith Point.
