Description
This part of the park is home to the iconic Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls. These spectacular waterfalls are best seen by air during the tropical summer, when heavy rains send huge volumes of water crashing into the gorge below. During the dry season, you can hike over boulders to the base of the falls. 4WD is required and trailers are not permitted. The creek crossing to twin falls is usually between 400mm to 600mm deep with a firm concrete base. A snorkel is recommended.
Immerse yourself in rugged natural surroundings as you navigate challenging walking tracks to the Arnhem Land plateau.
Jim Jim Falls features a 2 km return walk through monsoon forest and over boulders to a deep plunge pool or family-friendly beach pool. The waterfall flows from the start of the tropical summer until mid-July. Swim at your own risk in the Jim Jim plunge pool only.
Twin Falls gorge is accessed by a shuttle boat, a walking track over boulders and sand, and a boardwalk. From the boat you'll see countless fish species, long-necked turtles and maybe even the elusive pig-nosed turtle (warradjan). No swimming at Twin Falls due to crocodile risk.
No camping or overnight parking allowed.
