Jarrangbarnmi (Kooplin Gorge) in Kakadu National Park (Kakadu) is a restricted access area under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Regulations 2000 and a permit is required to enter this area. A permit and access key are required to visit, walk and camp at Jarrangbarnmi. Advance booking is essential and minimum 7 days must be allowed for processing of the permit. No permit extensions can be authorised on site. Another of the Mary River region's beautiful waterfall areas, this is wilderness camping at its absolute finest. Not far from Gunlom Falls, but well off the beaten track, this camping area is surrounded by rocky ridges, cascades and areas of white sandy beach. Set up camp beside Koolpin Creek then explore and swim in one of the many plunge pools before relaxing to take in the majesty of Kakadu. High clearance 4WD is required to access this site. Sites are unpowered and suitable for tents, camper trailer sand off-road caravans. Toilet facilities are available. Ensure you observe all safety signs, and be aware that whenever you are near water in the park, there is a risk of crocs! Generators and pets are not permitted.
