Description
Formerly a convict penal establishment, reformatory school and naval ship dockyard, Cockatoo Island also offers heritage accommodation, a waterfront campground, a program of tours, family-friendly cafés and tranquil picnic spots with panoramic Sydney harbour views.
Located at the junction of the Parramatta and Lane Cover Rivers, Cockatoo Island is just a ferry ride away from Circular Quay, Woolwich and other ferry terminals.
All campers have access to toilets, hot showers and a communal kitchen featuring sheltered facilities. These include barbeques, boiling water, fridges, microwaves, a vending machine and seating for up to 50 people. The campground also feature a fire pit, located towards the slipways.
Camping packages available or BYO swag or tent. The BYO tent option includes an unpowered 4m x 4m site that sleeps a maximum of four guests.
Bookings are essential.
Camping only, no access for campervans or caravans as it is on an island.
